Vietnam launches its first fully domestic semiconductor testing plant in Hanoi, part of a national push to build a global chip industry.
FPT Corporation has launched Vietnam’s first fully Vietnamese-owned advanced semiconductor testing and packaging plant in Hanoi, marking a key milestone in the nation’s bid to become a global semiconductor hub.
The facility, operational from 2026, is part of Vietnam’s national strategy to build 10 such plants by 2030 and develop 50,000 semiconductor professionals.
Phase 1 covers 1,600 square meters with six testing lines and reliability testing areas, meeting international standards.
Phase 2, planned for 2028–2030, will expand to 6,000 square meters, adding 18 lines and advanced packaging capabilities.
The plant will test chips for IoT, automotive, and AI-on-the-edge applications.
FPT has partnered with Viettel Group, VSAP Lab, Restar, and Winpac to strengthen the domestic semiconductor ecosystem and develop AI-on-the-edge System-on-Chip solutions for smart devices.
