NBA star Steph Curry won the Short Film Grand Jury Prize at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival for co-directing "The Baddest Speechwriter of All," a short documentary about Clarence B. Jones, a key speechwriter for Martin Luther King Jr.
The film, produced with filmmaker Ben Proudfoot, highlights Jones’ personal experiences during the civil rights movement and was selected from 54 entries by a jury including Martin Starr and A.V.
Rockwell.
Though Curry did not attend the festival in Park City, Utah, the win marks a major creative milestone, building on his prior work as an executive producer on Sundance-recognized films, including the Oscar-winning "The Queen of Basketball."
The award underscores Curry’s expanding influence in storytelling and social advocacy beyond basketball.
