Six Lancang-Mekong Cooperation countries—China, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam—reported major gains in a 2025 joint operation against transnational crime, dismantling 8,012 fraud and gambling cases, arresting 14,047 suspects, and seizing over 82 tonnes of drugs and 169.73 tonnes of precursor chemicals. They also disrupted 1,017 human trafficking cases, arresting 718 suspects and rescuing 1,469 victims. Officials met in Kunming to strengthen cooperation, emphasizing continued joint efforts, especially against telecommunication fraud, with the LMLECC serving as the central platform for regional security collaboration.
