Ross Jackson sentenced to 28 months for head-on crash at 98 mph, injuring two and killing his dog.
Ross Jackson, 26, was sentenced to 28 months in prison and banned from driving for three years after causing a head-on crash on the A697 near Wooler in November 2023.
Traveling at about 98 mph on a 60 mph road, he overtook 10 to 15 vehicles before colliding with an Audi Q3, causing his car to cartwheel and land on its roof.
The crash left the Audi’s driver with serious injuries, including a fractured sternum and broken ribs, and her daughter with severe whiplash, anxiety, PTSD, and lasting emotional trauma, including the loss of her business and a canceled 50th birthday trip.
Jackson’s dog was ejected and euthanized.
He pleaded guilty to dangerous driving causing serious injury, citing no prior record and no memory of the crash due to head injuries and an induced coma.
The judge called the overtaking maneuver “unfathomable” and “highly dangerous.”
