Mizoram launched its first standalone NCC headquarters in Aizawl, ending Assam’s administrative control and boosting youth engagement and national integration.
Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma inaugurated the state’s first standalone National Cadet Corps (NCC) Group Headquarters in Aizawl on January 29, 2026, marking Mizoram’s transition from NCC administration under Assam to self-governance.
The new headquarters aims to expand youth engagement, promote discipline and healthy lifestyles, and combat substance abuse, while fostering integration between Northeastern youth and the rest of India.
Currently, Mizoram has four NCC units with about 8,000 cadets, and officials are seeking long-term leased land to build dedicated facilities.
The initiative is expected to boost recruitment and national service opportunities.
