A Hino truck carrying furniture caught fire in Brisbane, blocking traffic, but no one was hurt.
A commercial Hino truck branded with HEQS, an Australian furniture company, caught fire on Ann Street near Brisbane’s Central Station just before 1 p.m. on January 29, 2026, blocking traffic at Edward Street.
Flames originated in the cargo area, producing thick black smoke and intense heat, but the cabin remained undamaged and no one was inside.
Emergency crews extinguished the fire within minutes, though traffic delays continued as police planned to reopen one lane.
The incident occurred less than 400 meters from a road closure earlier that morning due to a suspicious item found in a bush.
No injuries were reported.
