Former Nebraska Senator Dan McKeon urges AG to investigate a $2.5M no-bid contract to a governor’s associate, citing favoritism and ethics concerns.
Former Nebraska Senator Dan McKeon, who recently resigned amid misconduct allegations, has urged Attorney General Mike Hilgers to investigate a $2.5 million no-bid contract awarded to Julie Bushell, a registered lobbyist and personal associate of Governor Jim Pillen.
The contract, given to Bushell’s company Global Sustainability Developers LLC under emergency provisions, bypassed competitive bidding, a move the state auditor deemed unjustified and indicative of favoritism.
McKeon, now a private citizen, called for a review of potential violations of procurement laws, ethics rules, and conflicts of interest, emphasizing the need for transparency and accountability in public spending.
The attorney general’s office has not yet responded.
