Delhi court sets March 9 trial date for land-for-jobs case involving former Rail Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav and family.
A Delhi court has set March 9 as the start date for the trial of the Land for Job CBI case, with daily recording of prosecution evidence.
The case alleges that Railway Grade D jobs were awarded in exchange for land during 2004–2009, implicating former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, his family, and others in a conspiracy.
The court ordered key accused, including his daughters Misa Bharti and Hema Yadav, to appear in person between February 1 and 25.
The CBI originally charged 103 people; 52 were discharged and five died during proceedings.
Prosecutors argue land was acquired in lieu of jobs, while defense lawyers claim purchases were legal, no job favors were given, and the case is politically motivated.
