About 25 people attended the fifth annual Suicide Awareness and Memorial Walk in Chatham, Ontario, walking from the Dude’s Club to the downtown cenotaph for a moment of silence.
Organized by Gerald Robert in memory of his son Joe, who died by suicide in 2014, the event aims to reduce stigma and support those affected.
Supported by local mental health groups and initiated by Robert’s niece, social worker Deanna Smith, it has grown through community involvement.
