Westmorland Family urges National Highways to halt planned M6 Junction 38 closure, fearing HGV drop hurts local businesses.
The Westmorland Family, owners of Tebay Services and Junction 38 Truckstop, are urging National Highways to reconsider a plan to partially close M6 Junction 38 for up to four years starting in 2027 to replace aging Lune Gorge bridges.
They warn alternating lane closures could deter HGV drivers, reducing traffic and harming local businesses.
While National Highways says the junction will stay open except for limited overnight or weekend work, the Westmorland and Furness Council has backed a motion calling for full operation during repairs.
