A 40-year-old South Carolina woman, Dana Kinlaw, was shot and set on fire in her car on January 22, 2026, in Florence County after meeting two individuals she believed were selling a puppy.
Authorities say she was attacked near Atlantic Road and Springbranch Road in Effingham, with a flammable liquid poured on her before the car was set ablaze.
Investigators believe the killing was retaliation for a separate murder, for which an arrest has already been made.
Nineteen-year-old Iryanna Fleming and 31-year-old Daquinn Thomas were arrested the same day and charged with murder, first-degree arson, and weapon possession during a violent crime.
Both are being held without bond at the Florence County Detention Center.
The case remains under active investigation.
