Skylar Meade was sentenced to life without parole for killing two men during a 2024 prison escape in Idaho.
Skylar Meade, 33, was sentenced to two consecutive life terms without parole for the 2024 murders of James Mauney, 83, and Gerald Henderson, 72, during a prison escape in northern Idaho.
Meade, who had escaped while being transported to a hospital, pleaded guilty via an Alford plea to avoid the death penalty, as did his accomplice Nicholas Umphenour, whose sentencing is pending.
The killings occurred during a 36-hour manhunt after Meade and Umphenour fled following a shootout that injured correctional officers and killed a police officer.
Victims’ families expressed grief and rejected forgiveness in court.
Meade is already serving a 30- to 99-year sentence for his role in the escape.
