An explosion derailed four coaches of Pakistan’s Jaffar Express train near Abad railway station in Sindh province on January 28, 2026, as it traveled from Quetta to Sukkur.
The Baloch Republican Guards, a Baloch separatist group, claimed responsibility, saying they detonated a remote-controlled IED at Sultan Kot, targeting military personnel on board.
The group reported casualties and multiple overturned carriages, but Pakistani authorities have not confirmed any injuries or deaths.
This marks the latest in a series of attacks on the train by Baloch separatists, including a major hijacking in March 2025.
Security has since been increased, including reinforced coaches.
The BRG reiterated its pledge to continue attacks until Balochistan gains independence.
