A Nebraska teacher was arrested for a sexual relationship with a former student, violating state law.

On January 26, 2026, Cody Pester, a 26-year-old sixth-grade teacher and wrestling coach at Palmyra Junior/Senior High School in Nebraska, was taken into custody on suspicion of having an improper relationship with a former pupil. According to the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office, the alleged relationship started in May 2025, involved more than 13,000 text messages, and turned sexual by July. This is against Nebraska law, which forbids school personnel from having sex with students who were enrolled or had graduated within the previous ninety days. Pester was promptly relieved of all school-related responsibilities. The public is asked to contact the sheriff's office if they have any information, as the investigation is still ongoing.
