India and the EU finalize a trade deal cutting tariffs on medical goods and boosting pharmaceutical exports.

The India–EU Free Trade Agreement, finalized on January 27, 2026, removes tariffs on 90% of European medical, optical, and surgical equipment and cuts duties on pharmaceuticals and chemicals, improving access to affordable medicines and advanced healthcare in India. The deal is expected to boost Indian pharma exports—especially for small and medium firms—support recognition of AYUSH practitioners in the EU, and strengthen trade, supply chains, and collaboration in healthcare and innovation, with EU exports to India projected to double by 2032.
