A Florida python hunter survived a 16-foot, 202-pound snake attack while hunting an invasive species.
A professional Burmese python hunter in Florida, Carl Jackson, survived a dangerous encounter with a 202-pound, 16-foot-10-inch female python in the Everglades on January 13, 2026.
The snake, carrying about 200 eggs, dragged Jackson 10 to 15 feet before coiling around him; he was freed by his wife and two adopted children, who are certified FWC Python Action Team members.
The catch is the second-heaviest Burmese python ever recorded in Florida, just shy of the 215-pound record.
Jackson, who has eliminated 91 pythons since moving from Utah in 2025, is part of ongoing efforts to control the invasive species, which has contributed to declines in native wildlife.
