Coles has hired Clive Mathieson, a former editor of The Australian and adviser to ex-Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, as its new group corporate affairs officer starting March 10.
The move comes as the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) investigates Coles and Woolworths over allegations of misleading pricing, including raising prices by at least 15% before discounted promotions that often matched or exceeded original prices.
The ACCC warns it may use new enforcement powers if changes aren’t made.
