Chatham-Kent warns parents: unvaccinated schoolchildren may be suspended starting February.
Chatham-Kent Public Health is urging parents to ensure school-aged children have up-to-date immunizations, as suspensions may begin in early February for those without valid records or exemptions.
The health unit has sent 1,734 notices to families with incomplete vaccination records for diseases including measles, mumps, and polio.
Measles cases surged during a recent outbreak, with 180 cases in the region, mostly among unvaccinated children.
The health unit says records aren’t automatically shared, so families should verify and update them via online, mail, in-person, or phone to avoid suspension by March 10.
