Reform UK Scotland proposes £2B in tax cuts by cutting waste, aligning rates with UK, for 2026 election.
Reform UK Scotland leader Malcolm Offord announced a £2 billion tax cut plan for the 2026 Holyrood election, proposing to align Scotland’s income tax with the rest of the UK and reduce rates by 1p immediately, aiming for a 3p reduction within five years.
He said the cuts, requiring £3.7 billion in savings, would come from eliminating £9 billion in alleged waste across environmental programs, development projects, and 132 quangos, citing overspending on ferries as an example.
Offord argued high taxes hinder growth and pledged to boost prosperity while maintaining free NHS access, criticizing the SNP for stagnation.
The party also welcomed former Conservative councillor Daniel Hampsey and said the plan would require an emergency budget and MSP approval.
