Queen’s University graduate students vote for new leaders amid low turnout and vacant roles.

Three candidates—Olusola Akintola, Olivia DiPaolo, and Sakura Koner—are vying for SGPS Vice-President (Graduate) at Queen’s University, focusing on graduate student wellbeing, housing, mental health, and improved representation. Two candidates, Alexandra Giff and Tatyana Grandmaitre, are running for president, advocating for better communication, housing access, mentorship, and student engagement. Mary Arakelyan is running uncontested for Vice-President (Professional), emphasizing data-driven support and interprofessional collaboration. The election follows a low turnout, with several executive roles vacant due to challenges in recruiting candidates amid demanding academic schedules. Voting took place January 29–30, with results announced January 31.
