Ohio introduces $10M bill for security for top officials and candidates after Charlie Kirk’s assassination.
Ohio lawmakers introduced SB 308, a bipartisan bill to provide state-funded security for the governor, lieutenant governor, and major party or certified independent gubernatorial candidates upon request, following the assassination of commentator Charlie Kirk.
The bill, backed by Governor Mike DeWine, allocates $10 million and includes an emergency clause for immediate implementation.
It comes amid heightened safety concerns, after candidates Vivek Ramaswamy and Dr. Amy Acton received death threats and Ramaswamy disbanded his security team, leading to federal arrests and licensing issues.
