After ransomware group World Leaks claimed to have stolen 1.4 terabytes of internal data, including product design and manufacturing files, and posted samples online, Nike is looking into a possible data breach. Although the company acknowledged that a cybersecurity assessment was ongoing, it did not confirm the breach or reveal whether employee or customer data had been compromised. Instead of focusing on personal information, the stolen data seems to be more concerned with operational details, possibly avoiding the required breach notifications. The incident comes after recent cyberattacks on other large retailers and adds to Nike's problems as its market share declines. There was no proof that the ransom had been paid.
