Malaysia has launched its first commercial sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) plant in Pasir Gudang, Johor, officially inaugurated on January 26, 2026, by Minister Noraini Ahmad.
Operated by Hong Kong-based EcoCeres, the facility has an annual capacity of 420,000 tonnes, producing SAF, Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO), and renewable naphtha.
It began commercial operations in October 2025 and has already exported SAF to Europe, with plans to serve growing Asian markets.
The plant supports Malaysia’s decarbonization goals, including a potential 1% SAF blending mandate, and strengthens regional supply chains using feedstock from Southeast Asia and China.
It aligns with national energy and agri-commodity policies and positions Malaysia as a regional leader in green aviation fuel.
