A 69-year-old Irish equestrian coach, William Connolly, was found guilty on multiple counts including rape and child exploitation after a 2025 trial in Cork.
The victim, who was 14 at the time, said she endured months of grooming and abuse from 2019, delayed reporting due to fear and guilt, and only came forward after her mother discovered threatening messages on her phone.
The jury returned a unanimous verdict after nearly 12 hours of deliberation, convicting Connolly on several charges while acquitting him on others.
The victim described the trial as painful but empowering, saying she found strength in speaking the truth and reclaiming her identity.
Sentencing is set for February 13, 2026.
