Ghana sends 130 health workers to Antigua and Barbuda to address global shortages and unemployment.
On January 26, 2026, Ghana deployed over 130 health professionals, including nurses and specialists, to Antigua and Barbuda under a new Labour Exchange Programme.
The initiative, led by the Ministry of Health, aims to address the backlog of more than 80,000 unemployed health graduates while responding to international shortages in healthcare workers.
The program, which includes future phases in Jamaica, Barbados, and Trinidad, supports global health cooperation and promotes “brain circulation” by enabling skilled workers to gain international experience and contribute to remittances and national development.
