American Idol 2026 kicked off in Nashville with diverse hopefuls earning Golden Tickets.
The 2026 season of American Idol premiered on January 26 with auditions in Nashville, featuring a diverse group of hopefuls judged by Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie.
Standout performances included 17-year-old Lucas Leon, who earned a Golden Ticket with an original song that moved Underwood to tears, and Keyla Richardson, a mother and music teacher, whose emotional rendition of "Glitter in the Air" was praised after her son joined her on stage.
Jayson Arendt, a member of the Banana Balla league, impressed with his version of "Fire Away," while Daniel Stallworth’s gospel-tinged "Don’t Stop Believin’" earned unanimous approval.
Other contestants, including Jesse Findling and Genevieve Heyward, also advanced with powerful performances.
All auditionees received Golden Tickets to Hollywood Week.
