Salwani Anuar, wife of former Malaysian army chief, pleads not guilty to receiving RM5,000 from illegal activities.
Salwani Anuar @ Kamaruddin, wife of former Malaysian army chief Hafizuddeain Jantan, has been charged in Kuala Terengganu Sessions Court with receiving RM5,000 in proceeds from unlawful activities, allegedly deposited in January 2025.
She pleaded not guilty before Judge Mohd Azhar Othman.
The charge stems from Malaysia’s Anti-Money Laundering Act, carrying a potential penalty of up to 15 years in prison and a fine of at least five times the amount or RM5 million.
The prosecution, represented by MACC, proposed bail of RM30,000 with two sureties, passport surrender, and monthly reporting.
The case is ongoing.
