RVS Mani, a former Under Secretary in India’s Ministry of Home Affairs, was awarded the Padma Shri in 2026 for his contributions to public affairs, despite alleging he was pressured in 2009 to sign an affidavit promoting a 'Saffron Terror' narrative during the UPA government.
His claims were detailed in his book, 'Hindu Terror: Insider Account of Ministry of Home Affairs 2006–2010.'
The 2026 Padma Awards honored 131 individuals, including five Padma Vibhushan, 13 Padma Bhushan, and 113 Padma Shri recipients, with 19 women, six foreign nationals or NRIs, and 16 posthumous awardees.
The President also approved gallantry awards for 70 armed forces personnel, including six posthumous honors, recognizing acts of bravery across the military.
