On January 26, 2026, Qatar announced $40 million in grants and $360 million in project funding for Lebanon's electricity sector, with the goal of helping 1.5 million people in the midst of continuous efforts to address years of poor management and deteriorating infrastructure. Following improved relations with Gulf countries following Hezbollah's weakened position following the conflict with Israel, the investment supports a significant portion of Lebanon's economic stabilization. Additionally, Qatar promised to provide housing, three months' worth of food and medicine, and $20 million to assist in returning 100,000 Syrian refugees to Syria. As a prerequisite for the success of aid, the recently appointed Lebanese leadership has pledged to combat corruption.
