Former PM Han Duck-soo appeals 23-year sentence for aiding Yoon Suk-yeol’s 2024 self-coup, with court hearings set for Feb. 23.
Former Prime Minister Han Duck-soo has appealed his 23-year prison sentence for aiding insurrection linked to former President Yoon Suk-yeol’s 2024 martial law decree, with both his legal team and the special counsel filing appeals. The Seoul Central District Court ruled the decree constituted a “self-coup,” finding Han guilty of helping orchestrate it by proposing a pre-declaration Cabinet meeting and altering a revised proclamation. The special counsel also challenged acquittals on some charges. A Seoul High Court special division will begin hearings on February 23.
