BYD is shifting production of its Sealion 6 hybrid SUV from China to its Thai factory, ensuring uninterrupted supply and quality for Australian buyers. The move supports BYD’s goal to become a top-three automaker in Australia by 2026, backed by a growing lineup including the Atto 1, Atto 2, Sealion 5, Sealion 8, and upgraded Shark 6 ute. The Thai plant, already exporting to Europe and serving right-hand drive markets, is becoming a key export hub. New models like the Seal 6 sedan and wagon are in development, with regulatory approvals filed. BYD aims to nearly double its 2025 sales to challenge established brands.
