Bob Peet, former IPAC director, awarded OAM for shaping Australia’s performing arts.
Bob Peet, former director of the Illawarra Performing Arts Centre in Wollongong, has been awarded the Order of Australia Medal (OAM) for his contributions to the performing arts.
Appointed in 1987, he led IPAC through its 1988 opening during a royal visit by Prince Charles and Princess Diana, overcoming early skepticism about the venue’s viability.
Peet, born in Sydney, began his career in theatre design and puppetry before advancing in arts management, including roles at the Araluen Arts Centre and IPAC.
He is honored by the naming of the Bob Peet Studio at the centre.
