The Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee proposes banning non-Hindus from four Uttarakhand temples, pending approval.
In response to a similar ruling by the Gangotri Temple Committee, the Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee has suggested prohibiting non-Hindus from visiting the Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri Dham, and Mukhba temples in Uttarakhand.
The action, which is awaiting board approval, is part of larger initiatives to control access to religious sites and attempts to limit access to only Hindus.
Although a decision has not yet been made, the proposal is motivated by worries about maintaining sanctity.
After being closed for six months, the Badrinath temple is scheduled to reopen on April 23.
