Bhiklya Ladakya Dhinda, a 92-year-old tribal musician from Palghar, Maharashtra, has been awarded the Padma Shri for his lifelong dedication to Tarpa music, a traditional art form central to his community’s heritage.
The 2026 Padma Awards, announced by the Indian government, include 131 honors—five Padma Vibhushan, 13 Padma Bhushan, and 113 Padma Shri—with 19 women and 16 posthumous recipients.
Other recipients include farmer-activist Shrirang Devaba Lad, singer Alka Yagnik, actor Mammootty, and politician Shibu Soren, recognized for distinguished service in various fields.
