UN urges India to fix racial discrimination issues in Assam, citing flawed NRC process and forced evictions.
The UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination has urged India to address serious concerns over alleged racial discrimination against Bengali-speaking Muslims in Assam, citing issues in the NRC process, forced evictions without compensation, hate speech during the 2024 elections, and excessive use of force by authorities.

It called for corrective actions and detailed reporting in India’s next periodic submission.
