Stalin has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to reverse the National Commission for Allied and Health Care Professions' decision to mandate NEET for allied health courses, calling it a hasty, unconsulted move that threatens educational equity.
In a letter dated January 24, 2026, Stalin argued the policy, which affects courses like BPT and BOT, undermines state authority over education and could worsen inequality, especially for economically disadvantaged students.
He highlighted the financial and emotional toll of NEET’s current use in MBBS admissions, where 1.4 lakh students compete for 12,000 seats, and warned that expanding it to AHCs—where Tamil Nadu offers over 50,000 seats—would deepen disparities.
The state has also challenged the decision in the Supreme Court after the President withheld assent to Tamil Nadu’s anti-NEET bill.
