Nepal held elections on January 25, 2026, to fill 17 vacant seats in its National Assembly, the upper house of parliament, with voting running from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. across all seven provinces.
One seat in Koshi Province was filled unopposed by Sunil Bahadur Thapa of the Nepali Congress.
The remaining 17 seats are being elected by provincial assembly members, mayors, chairpersons, and their deputies, with vote weights adjusted due to resignations ahead of the March 5 House of Representatives election.
Polling took place at provincial election offices and designated venues in major cities, and the Election Commission confirmed all preparations were complete.
Vote counting will begin immediately after polling ends.
