India deploys 294 out-of-state officials to oversee West Bengal’s voter list hearings ahead of assembly elections.
The Election Commission has deployed 294 senior micro-observers from neighboring states to oversee voter list hearings in West Bengal’s 294 assembly constituencies, beginning January 26.
These officers, from Group-A services in Odisha, Bihar, and Jharkhand, will supervise 6,600 existing micro-observers at hearing centers.
The hearings, set to conclude by February 7, aim to ensure accuracy and transparency ahead of the state assembly elections, with the final voters’ list expected by February 14.
Polling dates will follow the list’s release.
