Heavy snow in Jammu and Kashmir led India to run special trains Jan. 27–28 to help stranded travelers.
Heavy snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir has disrupted roads and flights, prompting Indian Railways to run special reserved trains between SMVD Katra and Srinagar on January 27 and 28, 2026.
The service, operating in both directions with a stop at Banihal, aims to assist stranded passengers.
Trains will depart Katra at 8:10 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., arriving in Srinagar by 11:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., with return trips leaving Srinagar at 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
The initiative follows earlier disruptions on January 23 and is due to weather warnings and the unavailability of Vande Bharat services.
