In January 2026, four people including a nurse and her two adult children were arrested in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, for allegedly orchestrating a staged road accident and injecting HIV-infected blood into a doctor, the wife of a former lover.
Police say the accused obtained the blood from a government hospital under false pretenses, claiming it was for research.
The victim, an assistant professor, was injured on January 9 near KC Canal and taken to a hospital, where she tested positive for HIV.
The case, motivated by jealousy, is under investigation under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, with a chargesheet pending forensic results.
