Five Bathurst residents honored with Australian medals for community service, public safety, and long-term contributions.

Five Bathurst residents received the Order of Australia Medal for community service: Dr Edmund Marel in orthopaedic medicine, Paul Hennessy for youth and Scouts NSW, John Hollis for transport advocacy, Judith Brooke for over 60 years of organ playing at Bathurst Uniting Church, and Peter Crennan for law and community work. David Sherley earned the Public Service Medal for 20+ years as general manager of Bathurst Regional Council. Detective Superintendent Darren Beeche received the Australian Police Medal for leadership at Bathurst Police Station, and paramedic Kirsty England was honored with the Ambulance Service Medal for 25 years of service and leadership. Additional honorees include John Weeks for education, the late Walter Sutcliffe for music, Graham Peart for the wool industry, and Brett Murray for media and motor sport through event management and Speedcafe.
