China donated $86,400 in medical supplies and sent doctors to Malawi’s main hospital on January 24, 2026.
On January 24, 2026, Malawi’s Ministry of Health announced that a Chinese medical team donated medical supplies worth 144 million Malawian kwacha ($86,400) to Kamuzu Central Hospital, including electrocardiographs and fetal Doppler detectors.
The team also deployed six specialized doctors to support staff-shortened departments like radiology, cardiology, and pediatrics.
The initiative, part of China’s ongoing healthcare cooperation with Malawi since 2008, aims to improve emergency care, train local workers, and strengthen services at major referral hospitals.
