A Chhattisgarh court orders former CM Bhupesh Baghel to stand trial over a 2017 fake porn video case.
A special CBI court in Raipur has reversed a prior acquittal, ordering former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel to face trial in a 2017 case involving allegations of circulating a fabricated pornographic video linked to former BJP minister Rajesh Munat.
The court upheld charges against Baghel and several others, rejecting appeals.
The case stems from two FIRs filed in 2017—one by BJP leader Prakash Bajaj alleging blackmail, and another by Munat accusing Baghel and journalist Vinod Verma of spreading a fake video for political damage.
The CBI had previously filed chargesheets.
Baghel and Verma deny all accusations, with Verma claiming he was framed.
The decision means Baghel must now stand trial unless he appeals.
