Army soldier Rinkil Balyan, 24, died on January 24 in a road accident in Doda, Jammu and Kashmir, when his vehicle lost control on a snow-covered road in Bhaderwah’s Khanni Top area during a mission.
He was one of ten soldiers killed; ten others were injured, with some airlifted to Udhampur for treatment.
Balyan, from Bhatel village in Uttar Pradesh’s Hapur district, is survived by two young children.
His brother, also in the Army, said their father served in the military, reflecting a family legacy of service.
The village, where many serve in the armed forces or police, mourned his death with a funeral featuring full military honors.
Officials cited snow and treacherous terrain as contributing factors.
