The Supreme Court has directed Jharkhand lawyer Mahesh Tiwari to submit an unconditional apology before the Jharkhand High Court in a contempt case stemming from a heated 2025 courtroom exchange.
The incident, captured in a viral video, occurred during a hearing over an electricity connection dispute when Tiwari reportedly told a judge, “Don’t cross the limit,” after a dispute over a deposit.
The high court had initiated suo motu contempt proceedings, but the Supreme Court, while criticizing Tiwari’s defiant conduct, allowed him to file an apology, urging the high court to consider it sympathetically.
