Nissan recalls 26,432 2025–2026 vehicles due to faulty door striker welds that may cause doors to open during crashes.
Nissan is recalling 26,432 vehicles from model years 2025–2026, including certain Altima, Sentra, Frontier, and Kicks models, due to improperly welded door strikers that may fail, increasing the risk of doors opening during a crash or while driving.
The defect, linked to a faulty welding process at Nissan’s Canton, Mississippi plant, could cause the striker to separate without warning, compromising occupant safety.
No accidents or injuries have been reported, but the NHTSA confirmed the vehicles do not meet federal safety standards.
Free repairs will be performed at dealerships, with notifications starting in March.
Vehicle identification numbers will be posted on NHTSA.gov beginning January 28.
The recall follows an internal investigation that identified the issue in October 2025, though Nissan delayed action until field tests confirmed widespread failures.
