Lowville DPW superintendent Paul Denise charged with misdemeanor for carrying unpermitted gun into office.
Paul A. Denise, 56, superintendent of Lowville’s Department of Public Works, was charged with a misdemeanor for allegedly bringing a Heckler & Koch P2000SK handgun into village offices on January 2, 2026, without a valid New York State pistol permit.
The firearm, obtained from a family member abroad for safekeeping, was displayed during a coworker conversation and later surrendered.
Denise, who has led the DPW since 2019, was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Lowville Town Court on March 5.
Authorities confirmed no permit was held, and the village board declined to comment on personnel matters.
