John Brodie, the legendary San Francisco 49ers quarterback and 1970 NFL MVP, died at the age of 90. Between 1957 and 1973, he spent his entire 17-year NFL career with the 49ers, finishing second in franchise history with 31,548 passing yards and third with 214 touchdown passes. Brodie led the team to multiple playoff appearances, including two NFC Championship Games in 1970 and 1971, and was named first-team All-Pro in 1970. He was a Stanford standout and consensus All-American before being inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. After retiring, he became a respected NBC broadcaster, covering Super Bowl XIII, and continued to play golf, winning a senior tour event in 1991. The 49ers retired his number. 12 jersey, which recognizes him as a key figure in franchise history.
