Kaduna State pledges 100% water access by late 2026 after major infrastructure upgrades and investments.
Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani pledged 100% water coverage by late 2026, following a rise in water production from 8% to over 30% in two and a half years. He cited years of neglect, including dormant treatment plants and damaged infrastructure, as root causes. The state has invested between ₦93 billion and ₦100 billion from 2024 to 2027 to upgrade systems, including replacing damaged pipes, installing critical pipelines, and clearing electricity arrears to ensure uninterrupted pump operations. Over ₦900 million in staff salary arrears were settled, and land was allocated for worker housing. Collaboration with the National Water Resources Institute will establish branches in Zaria and Kachia to improve training and workforce expertise.
