ICE investigates after agents left threatening playing cards in cars of detained Latino immigrants.
ICE is investigating after reports that agents left ace of spades playing cards—bearing the ICE Denver office logo and an Aurora detention center address—in vehicles of nine Latino immigrants detained during a January 18 traffic operation in Eagle County. Family members found the cards in abandoned, sometimes running cars, sparking outrage over alleged intimidation. Advocacy group Voces Unidas called the act racially charged and likened it to psychological warfare, while the Department of Homeland Security condemned the conduct and confirmed a formal investigation by ICE’s Office of Professional Responsibility. The Eagle County Sheriff’s Office is also probing the incident, which has raised concerns about civil rights and trust in immigration enforcement.
